Studio Policies

Studio Location Lessons are held in Tia’s home studio in Winston-Salem, NC. Please note that a small dog and a cat are part of the household. Students or parents with pet allergies are encouraged to take any necessary precautions before attending.

Parents and guardians are welcome to remain on the premises during lessons. Seating may be limited inside, so many families find it comfortable to wait outside or in their vehicle. Tia is happy to discuss any concerns about the lesson environment prior to scheduling.

Studio Hours Tia is currently accepting students during the following hours:

Monday through Friday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Saturday: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Sunday: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Hours outside of the above may be available upon request. Please reach out to discuss scheduling needs and Tia will do her best to accommodate.

Lesson Lengths & Rates

Private Lessons:

• 30 minutes: $25
• 45 minutes: $36

Group Lessons (adults only, flute only):

• 60 minutes: $20 per person
• Minimum 2 students, maximum 4 students
• Group lessons meet weekly on a recurring basis

Cancellations & Missed Lessons

Private Lessons: A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for all cancellations. Lessons cancelled with proper notice are eligible for a makeup lesson, scheduled at mutual convenience. Lessons missed without 24 hours notice are forfeited and will not be refunded or rescheduled. Tia reserves the right to cancel lessons due to illness or emergency, in which case a makeup lesson will always be offered.

Group Lessons: A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for group lesson cancellations. If a student cancels with proper notice, the lesson will continue for remaining students. Individual makeup lessons for missed group sessions will be offered at Tia’s discretion. Consistent attendance is strongly encouraged as the ensemble experience depends on all students being present. If enrollment drops below 2 students for a session, Tia reserves the right to reschedule or restructure that lesson.

Instruments: Students are welcome to begin lessons whether they own or rent a flute. Tia is happy to provide guidance on finding a quality student instrument or rental if needed. Students should arrive to each lesson with their instrument, method books, and any assigned materials.

Practice: Regular practice between lessons is strongly encouraged and is the single greatest factor in a student’s progress. While a formal practice log is not required, students who practice consistently will advance more quickly and enjoy their lessons more. Even 10 to 15 minutes daily makes a meaningful difference.

Recitals: Optional recital opportunities will be offered periodically, providing students with a low pressure, joyful performance experience. Participation is never required but always celebrated.
